Task management

  1. Take a piece of paper and write down the tasks you engage in every day. Be specific. With each task, identify:
    • how long it takes to do each task,
    • how much effort you required to complete the task
    • the level of priority of the task. High priority tasks are completely unavoidable and necessary, e.g., eating. Low priority tasks are those that can be tackled on a different day.
  2. Plan each day’s activities based on the above 3 criteria, with the highest priority task being the main task of your day. You may break down this task into smaller, more manageable tasks so as to ensure that you are making progress but aren’t overwhelmed. Remember to include regular breaks in between the tasks to help you re-energize and re-focus. Try and include activities you enjoy and a stretch into your breaks to make them more refreshing.
